REMINDER: Monday 02-12-24 and Thursday 02-15-24 are our evenings of Parent-Teacher Conferences. Both days are early release school days, followed by Parent-Teacher Conferences 3:00-6:30pm. Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with you and discussing your student's progress. There will be no school on Friday 02-16-24, and no school on Monday 02-19-24 for the Presidents Day holiday.

This Friday evening, February 9th, two of Chester High School's finest participated in the Regional level competition of Poetry Out Loud in Carbondale with English instructor and sponsor Rana Hodge. Senior, TJ Lyons and junior, Nico DeGuzman, both advanced from the local contest held Friday January 25th. Nico received first place and will be advancing to State. Congratulations to Nico on the accomplishment and journey to State!

The Special Olympics bowling event was held today at S.I. Bowl in Carterville. CHS athlete, Leslie Asbury, placed 4th in her division! CGS 3rd grade athlete, Brendon Essman, placed 4th and CGS 7th grade athlete, Adam Essman, brought home a silver medal!! The Chester Champions are coached by Mrs. Gonzalez. Way to go students! We are proud of you!!!

CHS CONGRATULATIONS to TJ Lyons and Nico DeGuzman for advancing to regionals in the Poetry Out Loud competition. They will compete at the Poetry Out Loud regionals on Friday, February 9. The event will be held at ArtSpace 304 in Carbondale, Illinois Two winners from the regional competition will continue on to the state competition in March. All friends, family, and fans are invited to attend the performance events, free of charge.

CHS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Tonight's Boys Freshmen Basketball Game at Carlyle originally scheduled to start at 4:45pm has been reschedule to start at 5:30pm. The Freshmen will only play 2 quarters. The J.V. and Varsity games to follow the Freshmen game as usual. These changes due to shortage of players on the Carlyle team due to illness.

Help Fuel Our Future by purchasing fuel at Randolph County Fast Stop Locations during the month of February! Three cents for every gallon will go towards the FFA chapters in Randolph County, including our own Chester FFA chapter. Thank you to the Fast Stop Locations in Randolph County for supporting our programs!

Seniors: *Scholarships are in the google classroom "Scholarships 2024". Read each scholarship carefully for the deadline date and submission procedure. *FAFSA ID: February 1st, from 1:30-3:00 all college bound Seniors will receive help from ISAC to obtain a FAFSA ID, which is required to submit a FAFSA. Students will need their social security number, birth date, and a gmail account. *FAFSA Night: February 15th from 4:00 to 6:00. SWIC representative will be available in the media center to facilitate parents/guardians in filling out the FAFSA. *FAFSA Nonparticipation verification: Students who are not attending college must fill this out on-line. Instructions were given to students and must be complete by February 28, 2024. *FAFSA or a FAFSA nonparticipation verification must be completed before the Senior student is allowed to graduate. This mandate is per the State of Illinois. not Chester High School.
