Chester CUSD 139: In collaboration with the City of Chester Police, Sparta Police, Steeleville Police, and Jackson County Sheriff Department, a routine K9 search is being conducted at Chester CUSD. The buildings will be under a soft lockdown, and nobody will be allowed to enter or exit the buildings until the search is completed. Thank you for your cooperation.
The 5/6th grade girls basketball home game for today, February 22nd has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. All away games for today are still on to be played. Go Jr Jackets!

Part of the goal of National FFA Week is to help educate and raise awareness about what Agriculture is and what it does for us. This week Ms. Millburg's Intro to Ag students took some time and explained what Agriculture is, what the value of Agriculture Education is, and gave some examples of Agriculture in our own community! 🚜🌽🐔🐄🥰
CHS SOFTBALL:
CHS Softball will have a parent meeting following tryouts on Monday, February 27th. Parents are welcome to attend tryouts also, but the meeting is expected to begin at 5:45PM. Location will be announced later. One parent or guardian is required to attend a coaches/parents meeting prior their player participating in a game. If the 27th does not work with your schedule, please contact me for an alternate date. This Try-out is open to any girl who is attending CHS. Even if you haven't attended an open gym/field practice and still want to try out, you are more then welcome to come.

There will be a mandatory student/parent meeting Sunday, February 26, at 6:00 PM in the CHS cafeteria for all those interested in playing baseball during the spring 2023 season. Practice will begin on Monday, February 27 at Cohen Field in Chester at 4:00. Student-athletes must have an updated Physical on file to participate in any team workout. The 5 Essentials Survey (from ISBE, the Illinois State Board of Education) is a very brief survey that gives our district valuable feedback and becomes part of our school's Interactive State Report Card.
The 5 areas it focuses on are 1. Effective Leaders, 2. Collaborative Teachers, 3. Involved Families, 4. Supportive Environments, and 5. Ambitious Instruction.
Parents may take the survey once for each child in the district. The survey may take approximately 5 minutes and is open until March 31st.

Tomorrow, Feb. 16th @ 6:30 pm in the Sharp Cafeteria, CHS will host an Class of 2024 parent/guardian meeting. This meeting will provide information on next years class schedule and new programs. The new Opt Out program contract will also be available for parent/guardian signatures. This meeting is NOT mandatory.

🔸Monday starts our Book Fair and it goes through the whole week! Teachers sent home information with students last week.
🔸The PTS has its monthly meeting on Monday the 13th at 6pm in the cafeteria. Parents…please consider attending. Your input on PTS events is always appreciated! 😁
🔸Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday the 16th from 3-5:00pm and 5:30-6:30pm, and Friday the 17th from 8-11:50am. The last day to schedule a conference is today, Sunday the 12th!!!!
🔸Thursday the 16th is EARLY DISMISSAL at 1:40pm!!!
🔸NO SCHOOL Friday the 17th (Conferences) and Monday the 20th (Presidents Day)
